This Master of Occupational Safety and Health Risk Management (MOSHRM) programme offered at OUM is a part-time open and distance learning (ODL) postgraduate programme which offers a qualification that provides a sound business and technical basis basis in the application of risk management principles to manage effectively safety and health issues in an organisation for business sustainability. This course includes study in the areas of risk management, management systems, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) legislations, Occupational Health and Hygiene, Occupational Safety, Process Safety Management, Six Sigma and Security Management. The capstone unit for the Masters is a work-related research project.

MOSHRM provides a unique mix of academic and industry relevance learning experiences to the learners to have the complete set of competencies as a Safety and Health Manager and Advisor who is capable to integrate OSH into business management. MOSHRM provide a unique mix of academic quality and industry relevance to develop sound, solid and professional competencies in OSH.

MOSHRM program is fully accredited by Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA), recognised by Public Service Department (JPA).

    The aim of the programme is to produce Safety and Health Managers / Advisors who have a wide range of advanced knowledge and skills in the specialised areas to deal with the demands of the new development in the field of occupational safety and health and contribute to the success of preventive culture in Malaysia.

    The minimum duration to complete MOSHRM is 2 years and the maximum duration is 4 years.

    MOSHRM programme has intakes in the January, May and September semesters.

  5. Is MOSHRM programme offered in full-time or part-time mode?
    MOSHRM programme offered in part-time mode, making it ideal for workforces who want to improve their skills, knowledge and skills without having to leave work or compromise with their life responsibilities.

  6. What are the entry requirements for MOSHRM?
    Normal Entry

    1. A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in the relevant field with a minimum CGPA of 2.50 or equivalent, as accepted by the HEP Senate; OR
    2. A Bachelor’s degree (Level 6, MQF) in the relevant field or equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and not meeting a CGPA of 2.50, can be accepted subject to rigorous internal assessment****; OR

  12. What is the minimum duration to complete the MOSHRM’s Project (SMOP5206)?
    At least TWO semesters are required to complete the MOSHRM’s Project (SMOP5206).

  13. What is the mode of assessment in MOSHRM?
    Learners will be assessed through assignments and final exams in most of the subjects. The assignment carries 60 per cent and final exam carries 40 per cent.
  14. What is the minimum CGPA to graduate in MOSHRM?
    Achieved a final CGPA of at least 3.00 for conferral of MOSHRM degree.

    • The credits to be exempted shall be for courses that are equivalent to those courses offered at the University and shall be of a minimum of grade B (65 marks and above);
    • The courses applied must be taken not less than five (5) years prior to the application; and
    • The number of credit-hours approved for the transfer of credits must not exceed one-third (1/3) or 33% of the total credit hours for a particular programme.
