Bachelor of Accounting with Honours (BAC) aims to produce knowledgeable, analytical and competent accounting graduates to fulfil the country’s growing need of accounting profession.

The programme is designed to fulfil the country’s need for professionals in accounting. In designing the programme, due consideration is given to ensuring that potential graduates are well equipped with the knowledge and skills to meet the challenging work environment.

Learners are required to complete a total of 134 credit hours of prescribed studies in order to graduate. The programme structure covers five main areas:

  • accounting, finance and related knowledge
  • organisational and business knowledge
  • information technology
  • communication skills, industrial exposure and integrated case study, and
  • non-accounting knowledge taken through elective courses

  3. Who should apply Bachelor of Accounting?
    Any candidate that is motivated to pursue accounting programme to become professional accounting practitioners and further studies in higher level programme or professional programme especially employee from relevant sectors of industries who are determined to develop skills and knowledge for better job prospects.  In addition, fresh graduates from STPM, STAM, Diploma, Matriculation, Foundation, Asasi, UEC or equivalent who wish to pursue in accounting programme.
  4. What is the entry requirement to enroll for Bachelor of Accounting?
    Candidate has TWO (2) options, which is through Normal Entry:Candidate with MUET Band 2; AND

    • Pass STPM or its equivalent, with minimum Grade C+ (GP 2.33) in 2 subjects, and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level; or
    • Pass STAM with minimum grade of Jayyid (good), and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level; or
    • Pass Diploma (MQF Level 4) in accounting or related field, or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50; or
    • Pass Matriculation/Foundation/Asasi or its equivalent with a minimum CGPA of 2.50, and a credit in Mathematics at SPM level; or
    • Pass UEC with minimum Grade B in 5 subjects including Mathematics; or
    • Other recognised equivalent qualifications.English competency requirement for international students: Score of TOEFL 550 or IELTS 5.5 or equivalent.

    In order to ensure the quality of OUM program is maintained, the Bachelor of Accounting, BAC (A 5885) is fully accredited in 2010 by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency (MQA) and Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA).
  7. Is Bachelor of Accounting at OUM professionally recognised?
    Bachelor of Accounting, OUM is also been recognised by the CPA (Australia).  Graduates who wish to embark on professional membership, may start their journey with certain exemptions upon the completion of this programme Graduates will be exempted from eight foundation courses and continue with the professional papers.

  10. If I am a diploma holder or with working experience, will I be granted credit transfer/credit award for my courses?
    If you have a relevant and recognised Diploma qualification, you can apply for credit transfer up to 30% of the degree programme’s total credits.  Credit transfer can be given for subject where candidates have obtained the minimum grade and achieve 80% syllabus similarity with same credit value.You will also be granted the opportunity to earn credit award, called as APEL (C).  It is the awarding of credits for prior experiential learning to a course in OUM accredited programme.  APEL(C) provides the mechanism to recognise the individual’s prior experiential learning that is relevant and specific to a course within a programme of study. The credit award is based the knowledge and skills gained through informal and non-formal learning.  Awards of credits under APEL (C) does not involve the transfer of grades. Credit awarded for the course will be counted towards the total credit requirement for graduation.  The maximum percentage of credit transfer through APEL (C) is 30% of the total graduating credits of a specific programme of study.     Bachelor of Accounting is a 134 credit-hour programme, which means that it can typically be completed in 15 semesters.
  12. How is Bachelor of Accounting is delivered?
    Bachelor of Accounting runs online as well as blended modes.Online mode means that you can follow an OUM programme from anywhere in Malaysia, at your own pace and alongside your online peers, with the guidance of your e-tutor.  Blended mode refers to a combination of online study and face-to-face tutorials/seminars.
  13. When can I join Bachelor of Accounting?
    Bachelor of Accounting programme has three intakes a year which is in the January, May and September semesters.

    For Bachelor of Accounting, assessment methods vary from course to course. Most courses in BAC have assignments and final exams. Assessment for several advanced courses is entirely assignment-based.

  10. If I am a diploma holder or with working experience, will I be granted credit transfer/credit award for my courses?
    If you have a relevant and recognised Diploma qualification, you can apply for credit transfer up to 30% of the degree programme’s total credits.  Credit transfer can be given for subject where candidates have obtained the minimum grade and achieve 80% syllabus similarity with same credit value.You will also be granted the opportunity to earn credit award, called as APEL (C).  It is the awarding of credits for prior experiential learning to a course in OUM accredited programme.  APEL(C) provides the mechanism to recognise the individual’s prior experiential learning that is relevant and specific to a course within a programme of study. The credit award is based the knowledge and skills gained through informal and non-formal learning.  Awards of credits under APEL (C) does not involve the transfer of grades. Credit awarded for the course will be counted towards the total credit requirement for graduation.  The maximum percentage of credit transfer through APEL (C) is 30% of the total graduating credits of a specific programme of study.   11. How long can I complete Bachelor of Accounting?
    Bachelor of Accounting is a 134 credit-hour programme, which means that it can typically be completed in 15 semesters.
  12. How is Bachelor of Accounting is delivered?
    Bachelor of Accounting runs online as well as blended modes.Online mode means that you can follow an OUM programme from anywhere in Malaysia, at your own pace and alongside your online peers, with the guidance of your e-tutor.  Blended mode refers to a combination of online study and face-to-face tutorials/seminars.

    Bachelor of Accounting programme has three intakes a year which is in the January, May and September semesters.
