Sandakan Learning Centre Holds Dinner

On 10 December, the Sandakan Learning Centre threw a fabulous dinner party at the Azka White Hall in Bandar Nasalim, Sandakan, with assistance from the Centre for Alumni Relations (CAR). A total of 48 guests showed up, including the N50 Gum-Gum Assemblyman YB Tuan Arunarsin Taib and the former Director of the Sandakan Learning Centre, Encik Trisukma M. Arsad.

The evening kicked off with everyone singing Negaraku, Sabah Tanah Airku, and the OUM song, Universiti Untuk Semua. The Learning Centre’s current Director, Puan Rasmi Baharuddin, presented the welcoming remarks and an alumni representative, Cik Nor Farahin Khamshah, also delivered a speech.

A cool video called Menuntut Ilmu Berbuah Manis was shown to the guests. After that, there was a touching moment when Puan Masyita Abdul Rasad, the widow of a student, the late Encik Mohd Faizal Madlis, was honoured with a posthumous diploma, presented by Puan Rasmi and Encik Trisukma.

The fun then began with the guests taking part in a lucky draw and playing games.

All the guests took part in “Yes & No”, which had them standing in a “Yes” or “No” area. Next up was the “Pass the Gift” game, where a water bottle was passed around each table to the rhythm of the music, and when the music stopped, the person holding the bottle had to sing. Six bottle holders sportingly belted out a song together. The final game was “From Eye to Mouth”, whereby the participants had to move a biscuit from their forehead to their mouth without using their hands. These games got everyone laughing and having a great time.

To wrap things up, everyone got together for a group photo. A huge thank you goes out to the management and especially the Director of CAR, Cik Laila Sukma Ngah, for approving a budget of RM1,000 for the event.
