Programme Synopsis

This is an open and distance learning programme with the aim of helping learners to have better understanding of human nature and behaviour. The programme covers a wide range of topics including introduction to psychology, social psychology, introduction to clinical psychology, test and measurement, developmental psychology, personality, health psychology, behaviour modification , motivation, entrepreneurial and productivity psychology, organisational and cognitive psychology.

This programme will ensure that graduates have a better opportunity in career advancement

If you work in an organisation related to human services, human resource, personal development, training, counseling, social work, consultancy, market research, welfare, public relation, sales or any job which needs a lot of social skills and interaction, this course is definitely for you.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)

This programme aims to produce graduates that are:

PEO 1:  Knowledgeable with a strong understanding of the theoretical foundation and basic principle of psychology (Cognitive)

PEO 2:  Effective in communication and demonstrate leadership skills and are committed to professionalism in values, attitudes and ethics in a diverse and complex society (Psychomotor)

PEO 3:  Competence to solve problems, self-reflect and use scientific skills and creative thinking across all settings (Cognitive)

PEO 4:  Integrate the entrepreneurial skills as such the current needs of learner and foster a positive view of continued personal and professional development (Affective)

PROGRAMME LEARNING OUTCOMES (PLO)

Upon completion of all courses in this programme, the graduates should be able to:

PLO1 Describe systematically principles, concepts and theories in  psychology discipline (Knowledge and Understanding)

PLO2 Relates and apply critical thinking skills for analysing, problem solving as well as decision making (Cognitive Skill)

Kemasukan Biasa

1. STPM atau setara dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred C (NGMP 2.00) dalam 2 mata pelajaran DAN kepujian dalam mata pelajaran Matematik dan Sains serta lulus Bahasa Inggeris di peringkat SPM; atau
2. Lulus STAM (pangkat Jayyid); DAN Kepujian dalam mata pelajaran Matematik dan Sains serta lulus Bahasa Inggeris di peringkat SPM; atau
3. UEC dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B dalam 5 mata pelajaran termasuk Matematik, Sains dan Bahasa Inggeris; atau
4. UEC dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya Gred B dalam 5 mata pelajaran termasuk mata pelajaran Matematik dan Sains serta lulus Bahasa Inggeris; atau
5. Lulus Matrikulasi/Foundation dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.00 daripada 4.00; DAN kepujian dalam mata pelajaran Matematik dan Sains serta lulus Bahasa Inggeris di peringkat SPM; atau
6. Diploma dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.00 daripada 4.00; DAN kepujian dalam mata pelajaran Matematik dan Sains serta lulus Bahasa Inggeris di peringkat SPM; atau
7. Diploma Psikologi dengan mendapat sekurang-kurangnya PNGK 2.00 daripada 4.00; atau
8. Kelayakan-kelayakan lain yang diiktiraf setara.

Nota :
Syarat kepujian Matematik dan Sains serta lulus Bahasa Inggeris pada peringkat SPM bagi calon (1),(5) dan (6) boleh dikecualikan jika kelayakan tersebut mengandungi mata pelajaran Matematik, Sains dan Bahasa Inggeris dan pencapaiannya setara/lebih daripada keperluan mata pelajaran tersebut pada peringkat SPM.

ATAU

Kemasukan APEL
• Warganegara Malaysia; dan
• Calon hendaklah berumur 21 tahun dan ke atas pada tahun permohonan dibuat; dan
• Mempunyai pengalaman kerja/pengalaman pembelajaran terdahulu yang berkaitan; dan
• Lulus Penilaian APEL bagi Sarjana Muda (yang dikendalikan oleh OUM).

Normal Entry

1. STPM or its equivalent with minimum Grade C (GP 2.00) in 2 subjects AND credit in Mathematics and Science and pass in English at SPM level; or
2. Pass STAM (Jayyid level) AND credit in Mathematics and Science and pass in English at the SPM level; or
3. UEC with minimum Grade B in 5 subjects including Mathematics, Science and English; or
4. UEC with minimum Grade B in 5 subjects including Mathematics and Science and pass in English; or
5. Pass Matriculation/Foundation with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00; AND credit in Mathematics and Science and pass in English at the SPM level; or
6. Diploma with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00; AND credit in Mathematics and Science and pass in English at the SPM level; or
7. Diploma in Psychology with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 out of 4.00; or
8. Other recognised equivalent qualifications.

Note :
The credit requirement in Mathematics and Science and pass in English at the SPM level for candidates (1), (5) and (6) can be exempted if the qualifications comprise of Mathematics, Science and English and the achievements is equivalent to/above the requirements of the subjects at SPM level.

OR

APEL entry
• Malaysian; and
• Candidate must be 21 years old and above in the year of application being made; and
• Have previous working experience/learning relevant to the field applied; and
• Pass APEL Assessment for Bachelor Degree (conducted by OUM).

  1. The provisional offer of admission will be revoked if the candidate:
    1. Fails to submit evidence of qualification within the stipulated date; or
    2. Does not meet the entry requirements of the University.
  2. Entry requirements are subject to change as stipulated by the Malaysian Qualifications Agency.

Discount for the Physically Challenged Learners (OKU) and Senior Citizens

The University offers 50% discount for:

  • Senior citizens aged 60 and above on registration date; and
  • Physically challenged learners – a valid Orang Kelainan Upaya (OKU) is required.

These discounts are for subject fees only and are not applicable for research and other fees. The discounts are also not valid for second time registration and repeating of subjects.

Learners who receive this discount are not entitled to other discounts and promotions.

    We have learning centres throughout the country, in every state except Perlis. These are well-equipped with tutorial rooms, computer labs, meeting rooms and reading areas. The learning centres provide a friendly and conducive learning environment, complete with Internet access.

  19. Is my working experience counted?
    You can gain admission by leveraging on your work and prior learning experience via Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning (APEL A). You can also earn credits for a shorter study duration via APEL C.
