Get ready for a massive celebration! In just a few days, our 29th Convocation will light up the World Trade Centre Kuala Lumpur (WTCKL) from 3 to 7 May 2025. This isn’t just a ceremony – it’s a 5-day event packed with pride, smiles, and triumphs as graduates strut across the stage to receive their hard-earned degrees and diplomas.
We’re talking 7,915 graduates: 14 Doctorates, 419 Masters, 5,179 Postgraduate Diplomas, 1,813 Bachelors, and 490 Diplomas. The Faculty of Education is bringing the biggest team with 5,778 grads, followed by Business & Management (1,004), Technology & Applied Sciences (701), and Social Sciences & Humanities (432).
To be held in the Merdeka Hall on Level 4 of WTCKL, the event will roll out 10 perfectly timed sessions – five morning and five afternoon – so that every grad gets their moment to shine. Each can bring two guests, so expect WTCKL’s halls to hum with cheering families and friends. Morning session graduates need to be at Anjung Merdeka outside the hall by 8:00am to queue up according to their smartcard numbers, while the afternoon session graduates must line up by 1:30pm. We’ve got this down to a T for a smooth, unforgettable vibe.
The first session of the convocation on 3 May will spotlight award winners in different categories. The Pro Chancellor’s Award celebrates stellar doctorate grads, the President’s Award cheers standout undergrads and postgrads, the Lifelong Learning Award salutes inspiring undergrads and postgrads over 65, and the Special University Award, a rare gem, shines for unique achievements. Adding heart to the mix, two grads – one doctorate and one diploma – will deliver speeches representing all the graduates, at the end of the first and final sessions.
For all the graduates, this convocation is the grand finale of juggling work and study responsibilities, late-night study sessions, and sheer determination to reach the finishing line. For their loved ones, it’s a front-row seat to their victory lap.
So, clear your schedules for a week of pure joy. From the first award to the last speech, OUM’s 29th Convocation is set to be a showstopper. Big congrats to the Class of 2025 – your spotlight’s waiting!
