Currently a Principal Research Fellow, Professor at Institute of Microengineering and Nanoelectronics
(IMEN), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (The National University of Malaysia). He is also the Deputy
Director (Statistics and Monitoring) at Center for Research and Monitoring (CRIM, UKM) since 2021.
Prior to joining UKM, he was an Assistant Professor at Department of Materials Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, International Islamic University, Malaysia, IIUM (Apr 2013 – Jan 2014) and Assistant Professore at Graduate School ofMaterials Science, Japan Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (JAIST), Japan (May 2010 – March 2013). He was a postdoctoral researcher at Center for Nanomaterials and Technology, JAST, before promoted to Assistant Professor in JAIST, Japan. Prior to joining the academic field, he worked at Alps Electric (M) Sdn. Bhd. as Production Engineer in 2004. He specializes in carbon nanoelectronics materials and other low dimensional materials synthesis and devices, molecular beam epitaxial growth of 3-5 semiconductors using MBE technique and electron microscopy. His current research interests are graphene production and application in NEMS and devices, 2D materials-based sensing and semiconductor spintronics. In 2020, he was selected as Top Research Scientist Malaysia TRSM 2020 by the Academy Science of Malaysia. He leads various national projects such as Fundamental Research Grant Scheme, Prototype Research Grant Scheme, Translational Research Grant Scheme, Long term Research Grant Scheme, International Collaboration Fund from KPT and MOSTI and several industrial projects from Infineon, Fuji Electric on the development of highly conductive wires and memory devices and consultancies project on mass production of graphene and ASEAN semiconductor supply chain framework from ForteGreenergy and Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA).
At the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (KPT), he serves as the central committee and task force for the assessment of research excellence of public and private universities (MyRA), Research University
