On 22 May 2025, the Digital Library received a visit from the National Library of Malaysia (Perpustakaan Negara Malaysia) for data collection in their digital library research project. The visit was led by Dr Norsharyna binti Shafawi, along with another researcher from the National Library’s Research Section.
The main objective of the visit was to gather data, insights, and experiences related to the management and operation of the OUM Digital Library. Dr. Norsharyna and her team were keen to learn about the strategies and practices OUM has implemented to manage its digital resources, services, and technology effectively.
Several key topics were discussed, including the challenges of managing a digital library in an open, distance and digital education (ODDE) environment, the use of digital tools, and the integration of digital resources for both learners and faculty members. Interviews with the library staff provided a detailed understanding of the daily operations, user engagement strategies, and the overall impact of the digital library on teaching and learning at OUM.
The researchers from the National Library expressed their appreciation for the opportunity to explore OUM’s digital library model and gained valuable insights that will contribute to their ongoing research. This visit marks a significant step in enhancing the understanding of digital library management in higher education settings.
