Overview

The objectives of this programme is to produce learners with IT skills which enable them to become programmers, analyst programmers, IT administrators or IT executives. Learners are required to accumulate 90 credit hours of prescribed courses in order to graduate.

Discount for the Physically Challenged Learners (OKU) and Senior Citizens

The University offers 50% discount for:
1. Senior citizens aged 60 and above on registration date; and
2. Physically challenged learners – a valid Orang Kelainan Upaya (OKU) is required.
The discounts are not valid for second time registration and repeating of subjects.
Learners who receive this discount are not entitled to other discounts and promotions.

      WHAT IS MBOT?
      Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) is one of the new professional body that gives Professional Recognition to Technologists and Technicians in related technology and technical fields. Based on Act 768, MBOT expands its function vertically and horizontally whereby MBOT looks at technology-based profession that cuts across discipline based from conceptual design to a realized technology and covers from Technicians (with SKM/Diploma Level) up to Technologists (Bachelor’s Degree level and above).

    To work as programmer, system analyst, database, network or system administrator, software or network engineer, IT administrators, IT executives and a lot more.

  4. What is the learning pathway of the programme?
    After completion of the programme, learner can continue to pursue education in the following OUM programmes:

    • Master of Information Technology (MIT)
    • Doctor of Philosophy (Information Technology)

  5. What are the entry requirements for DIT?
    Applicants can apply for the Diploma in Information Technology (DIT) through Normal Entry or APEL.A admission.

  6. What is the mode of teaching for the programme?

    The DIT programme is offered through Open, Distance and Digital Education (ODDE). Learners study through a combination of self-managed learning, online learning materials, digital resources, and scheduled academic support sessions.

    The normal period of study is 3 years and 8 months, equivalent to 11 semesters. Learners usually take three courses per semester. However, learners may take additional courses, subject to their academic performance, course availability, and programme regulations.

    Learners are encouraged to attend e-tutorial sessions conducted by the E-Tutor through video conferencing via Google Meet. Each course includes 8 e-tutorial sessions, with a total of 8 learning hours per course.

    The learning journey is also supported through forum discussions and e-lesson materials available on OUM’s learning platform, myINSPIRE. Assignments and course modules are also uploaded to this platform. Learners must submit their assignments online and complete the take-home final examination through online submission.
