Group Chief Executive Officer, METEOR

Incorporated in 1998, Multimedia Technology Enhancement Operations Sdn. Bhd. (METEOR) was formed by a consortium of 11 Malaysia public universities to help realise   the country’s vision of becoming an industrialised nation through the development of skilled human capital. METEOR’s main aim is to provide comprehensive and enhanced solutions via technology to all industries, focusing on areas such as learning and consultancy.

To further our vision as the preferred provider of education services and solutions, we are seeking a qualified professional Malaysian candidate to fill the position of the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO).

The Role:

The GCEO will helm the Group and is responsible for providing strategic, financial and operational leadership for METEOR Group of companies to ensure that   it meets the goals set by the Board of Directors.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Plan, develop, implement and direct the Group’s operational and fiscal functions and performance.
  • Serve as a strategic partner by developing and implementing the Group’s plans and programmes.
  • Analyse and make recommendation on the impact of long term growth initiatives, planning, and introduction of new strategies and regulatory actions.
  • Develop credibility and authority for the finance leadership team by providing accurate analysis of budget, reports and financial trends and operational procedures in order to assist the BOD.
  • Enforce adherence to legal guidelines and in-house policies to maintain the Group’s legality and business ethics.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor and consultant, offering expert advice on contracts, negotiations or business deals that the Group has an interest in.
  • Evaluate the Group’s financial, operational, and sales and marketing structures for effective planning to ensure continuous enhancement of operating efficiencies.
  • Serve as a key leader in attracting, developing, coaching and retaining high-performance team members, and supporting staff in prioritising resources towards maximising their impact. 

Qualification and Experience:  

  • Bachelor’s degree in any discipline. Master’s degree and above is an advantage.
  • Minimum 20 years of experience with proven experience as CEO or in other position at Top Management level (C-Suite or equivalent).
  • Distinguished track record of professional achievement and significant leadership experience in an institution/organisation.
  • Experience in developing profitable strategies and implementing organisation’s vision and mission.
  • Familiar with diverse business functions and possess strong understanding of corporate finance and performance management principles.
  • In-depth knowledge of corporate governance and general management best practices.

President / Vice-Chancellor, Open University Malaysia

The Role:

  • A visionary leader who is able to respond to future demands and ensure the University remains resilient and sustainable.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build constructive and positive relationships with key external shareholders including statutory bodies, industrial partners, and international bodies and partners.
  • Ability to lead in securing philanthropic and charitable funds from individuals and organisations to enhance the University’s research, teaching, student experience and reputation.

Qualification and Experience:  

  • Possess excellent academic qualification with a distinguished track record of professional achievement and significant leadership experience.
  • Minimum 20 years of experience with at least 10 years serving at Top Management level (C-Suite or equivalent) in an institution/organisation.
  • Possess strong knowledge and experience in managing ODL institutions.
  • Possess extensive knowledge on higher education, both locally and internationally.
  • Exhibit entrepreneurial drive and strong financial acumen.

Job Responsibilities:
