Brisk Walking for Better Health

If you work in an office, this is something you do for most of the day – sit in a chair. Harmless, you think? Well, we have news for you: sitting is the new smoking! Research has found that sitting for long periods can cause health problems, including heart disease and cancer.

Recognising the importance of exercise, Kelab METEOR (METEOR staff club) has come up with a fresh new initiative to get our staff moving – monthly brisk walks. The first brisk walk kicked off last Friday, 25 August, with roughly 70 participants.

Depending on how energetic and fit they were, they could walk for 2km or take the 3km route. Both routes covered the Menara OUM vicinity, Taman Bandaran Kelana Jaya and Tasik Kelana Jaya. To ensure a safe and effective workout, warm-up and cool-down exercises were included.

The one-hour brisk walk initiative goes beyond just physical fitness. By participating, our staff are not only improving their own health but also fostering a sense of camaraderie and teamwork. Ultimately, it serves as a platform to unite METEOR staff and achieve our corporate fitness goals together.

Together, we will stride towards a healthier future!
